There is a great selection of places to shop and eat within walking distance of Baan Sathorn Chaophraya. Unless your needs are very specific it’s unlikely you won’t find what you are looking for nearby. This information is correct as of March 2023 when it was last updated.
There are lots of great places to eat within metres of the Condo. Head out to the main road (Charoen Nakhon 15A) and turn left and you can find a great selection of local places to eat. Some are air conditioned and have Thai and English speakers. Of special mention are “The Box of Fit” – https://goo.gl/maps/aKC9F2dTXrbYE1To8 about 30 metres past the traffic lights on the same side as the Condo and also on the same side just past Chareon Nakhon 19 and the pedestrian overpass is a great little place called Bangkok Chim Chum – https://goo.gl/maps/Trfb7q3rbVzDzcna9 the owner who is Thai speaks perfect English (he used to be an English teacher) and the food is great.
Senafast Shopping Centre
A small shopping centre located within a two minute walk from Baan Sathorn Chaophraya.
There is a Villamarket Supermarket which is ideal for foreigners where you can get a wide variety of goods and many of your favourites from back home.
There’s also a dentist, hairdresser, Apple Dealership, many restaurants, Starbucks, KFC, Dominos Pizza, Chemists, Thailand Postal Service and more.

ICONSIAM Shopping Centre
An award winning and huge shopping centre which is only 700m from the apartment. It has many floors and hundreds of shops. There are over 50 places to eat! Upstairs there is a Cinema complex.
ICONSIAM also boasts a huge APPLE store (although there is an Apple dealer and service centre in Senafest) and all the major brands are represented here.
There also a Takashimya Department Store and some great artisan food suppliers including a great Bakery.
Shuttle boats also go from the Saphan Taksin Pier. The new Gold Line BTS also stops right outside ICONSIAM and links unto the Silom line at Krung Thonburi
Lotus’s Prive Supermarket
Very easy to find as it’s opposite ICONSIAM and they are actually linked by a walkway at the BTS station.
The Lotus’s Prive Supermarket is in the basement of the building and has a great selection of foods. There are a number of shops and food locations in the same building on the ground and upper floors.

Robinsons Shopping Centre
A department store on four floors situated near the Saphan Taksin BTS station on the Chareon Krung Road.
There is a supermarket (TOPS) in the basement with a good selection of products at reasonable prices and they also have a some foreign products.
There’s also a McDonalds, Swensons , MK, Starbucks and many more. They also have a Powerbuy electrical store upstairs

The Bangrak Bazaar is located behind and to the side of Robinsons in the evenings and consists of market stall holders selling their wares.
SIAM – Central Bangkok
In central Bangkok there are many shopping malls within walking distance. Take the BTS to SIAM (central) station and you can walk to all of them from there.

MBK is also close by and you can walk from SIAM but its better to stay on the BTS and get off at the National Stadium Station although it’s only another 100m further on

Getting Around
Come out of the Condo and head towards the security box, turn left towards Chareon Nakhon Road. (There is a small shop on the left here that sells most things) When you reach the road turn left and walk to the police box near the junction. Senafest will be opposite you. If you continue along the road on the same side you’ll find a 7-11 and just beforehand a nice place to eat and drink called “Box of Fit”
If you cross the road to Senafest http://www.senafest.com/en/ you will find a Villamarket (ex-pat supermarket) where you can get food from home albeit at imported prices but also fresh fruit and veg. It’s not the cheapest but it is very handy.
There are also some nice restaraunts chains upstairs and a dentist and about 12-20 small shops including a pharmacy downstairs. There is also a Pizza Hut there.
ICONSiam
Just up the road is ICONSiam which is a massive shopping complex with major high-end retailers and some nice deli type food establishments including a bakery on the ground floor. They have multiplex cinemas on the top floor.
ICONSiam can be reached by foot in 15 mins as it’s only 800m away.
Across the River
Near the Saphan Taksin BTS (head towards Chareon Krun road) and turn left is Robinsons which has a TOPS supermarket downstairs (Thai style) and a PowerBuy (electrical goods) upstairs as well as a comprensive range of food places and a McDonalds at the front.
Chatuchak Market (JJ Market)

There are 15,000 stalls at JJ Market and it’s mainly open at weekend. You can buy anything there ! Get on the BTS and get off at Mo Chit (which used to be the terminal station). From there it’s a 2 mins walk.
